Although we've been living in our house since last August, we've been doing so without any interior doors. I admit it, it was weird at first, but I've actually gotten used to using curtains as a temporary solution. Our house guests might not feel the same though, so I am excited to say that we will actually have real wood doors in place by the end of this week!

This is by far my most favorite update...HOORAY! Can't wait to visit in June!
I love the doors! I have a quick question about those lovely chair hammocks though. I also have a chair hammock! Thinking about just hanging it in the basement man-cave area. Unfortunately, many eye hooks I've looked at say "not to support human weight", or the playground grade stuff is through-bolts. Those are not finished-ceiling friendly. What did you use and where did you find it?
Hi Christina. The chair came with what we needed- the D ring which was attached to the ceiling with a lag bolt. We put it into a ceiling joist too. The hammock swings are from www.twinoakstore.com - maybe they could help?
Hi, I've been following your blog since the end of last year and I love your house! We live in Raleigh as well, and we're on the lookout for land in an established neighborhood in North Raleigh to build on. I would love to build this kind of home. Did you purchase a plan on the internet or use an architect for a custom plan?
Living in a tract home and coveting your door and window trim and crystal doorknobs...
Hi Wendy,
We actually looked through a bunch of plans for ideas (www.thebungalowcompany.com has good plans). We loved the look of the old Sears mail order homes, but wanted a more open floor plan. We found an architect who met with us and listened to what we wanted- he came back with these plans and we absolutely loved them. He is in Raleigh too. Let me know if you are interested.
I have been bad about updating this blog. Thanks for following! Good luck looking for property.
Hey guys,
Your home is really well designed!
My wife and I are restoring the exterior of a foursquare built in 1926 and have some paint colors to decide on soon, we really like the the colors on the outside of your home and was wondering if you might be able to send us the names.. Have a great summer and thanks!

Hi! Glad you liked the colors- it took us a while to get it how we wanted. Ended up with all Sherwin Williams... (flat) Bunglehouse Gray for the body. The trim was semi-gloss Roycroft Vellum. The window sashes and foundation are Andiron (satin window sashes and flat foundation).
Hope this helps! Looks shades of green and gray- depending on the sun.
